We arrived at Cape Hatteras on the 22nd of May, 2010 and went immediately to the Condo. We had called the number we had for registration earlier in the day and received no indication from the person that we talked to on the phone that the condo we had reserved was owned by another individual and the management at the Villas had nothing to do with that particular condo. When we arrived, the people at the desk were kind enough to give us the address that we needed to go to in order to register and pick up the key. The address turned out to be a house about 2 miles form the condo. When we arrived at the house, no one was at home and there was no note, sign or information on the door or elsewhere to help us. We attempted to call the responsible person, and found that our cell (Verizon) did not get a signal at Hatteras. (We later found out that most cells did not receive a signal). We decided to get something to eat and return to the house later. When we returned, about one hour later, there was someone home to take care of us. When we arrived at the condo, we found that it was situated in a covered walkway, near the swimming pool with no view to speak of. The location of this particular condo was "off putting" from the start. The inside of the condo was dark from lack of light and the color of the furniture. When we attempted to take a shower, we found that the valve was stuck in the bathtub mode and could not be moved to shower mode without the risk of breaking off the valve. Due to the hour, we waited until morning to call the owner. He immediately came over and made a temporary fix and said that he would return--- he never did. So if we wanted to shower we could- bath was not an option due to the faulty valve. I pointed out another problem with the door to the bedroom failing to shut- he said he would return- never did. Later on in the day, I figured out the problem myself and fixed it. The condo was comfortable and clean and the types of appliances and crockery we expect in a timeshare were available, though some of the items should be replaced due to age. The area was very peaceful and the people friendly. We had difficulty getting onto the beach because there was no easy entry for handicapped. This should be pointed out!!!! The setup with the ownership and who to contact upon arrival should also be fully explained. Based upon comparison with other timeshare locations we have stayed at, we would have to give this timeshare a 4 out of 10.
