The Pirates of Nassau An interactive environment that will fascinate and thrill adults and children alike. Visitors will always remember being transported back to the Golden Age of Piracy.
The Pompey Museum This museum was once an auction site for slaves in the 18th century. It now displays artifacts, historical documents and drawings which recount the history of slavery and emancipation in The Bahamas. The Pompey Museum hours are 10:00am to 4:30pm.
The Queen’s Staircase Nassau’s most-visited landmark features 65 steps carved from solid limestone by slaves in the late 1700’s. The steps allowed passage from Fort Fincastle to the streets of Nassau below.
Parliament Square The flamingo-pink buildings of the Bahamian Parliament were constructed in 1815 and are excllent examples of colonial architecture. Prominent in the Square is a statue of Queen Victoria. |
Cloister Gardens These spectacular gardens, located on the grounds of the One and Only Ocean Club, feature fountains, waterfalls and bronze and marble statues. A rebuilt Augustinian monastery from the 13th century known as The Cloisters sits adjacent to the property and is a popular locale for weddings.
Ardastra Gardens The Ardastra Gardens and Zoo are home to the famous marching flamingos, where hundreds of animals and birds live on five and a half acres of tropical tranquility. Show times are 11:00am, 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Ardastra is open everyday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Arawak Cay The Fish Fry on West Bay Street is a series of restaurants serving local seafood cuisine such as grouper fingers and conch salad. It is also the site of the Summer Junkanoo Festival.
Nassau's Straw Market This lively market offers local crafts, straw goods, t-shirts, souvenirs and wood carvings. The Straw Market is located in downtown Nassau.
